Name: Rainbow Dash
Canon: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Age: Unknown/young adult.
Timeline: End of Season 3
Personality: Rainbow Dash lives for Adventure! Any time there is a dangerous mission to accomplish; she is usually the first to express excitement. She views the world as one big competition, which leads her to being both bold and brash. In every episode we can see this personality trait shine through. In fact, Rainbow Dash earned her cutie mark (a special mark every pony gets that reveals his or her special talent) in a racing competition. “The only thing I liked more than flying fast was winning!”
With a love of winning comes the fear and hate of losing. Rainbow Dash went against a fellow friend in an IRONPONY competition. Despite it being “just for fun”, she begins to cheat when it becomes apparent that she is falling behind. In another competition, when Rainbow Dash was uncertain whether or not she could win, her main concern was how her failure would look to others, rather than participating in the competition itself.
It is not just winning she enjoys; it is the attention she gets from it--she’s very prideful. In the episode, “Mare Do Well”,” Rainbow Dash enjoyed getting showered with praise from a few heroic acts she had accomplished. However, she let her pride get the best of her, and got upset when another hero came onto the scene. Another example of protecting her pride is when she told another friend that reading was uncool, and that it was only for eggheads. Lo and behold, Rainbow Dash found a book she liked, and rather than admitting her new hobby, she went to extreme lengths to hide it--such as petty theft from a hospital to steal a book.
Needless to say her outward appearance to others also plays a huge role in personality. Rainbow Dash must always appear super awesome to those around her. When choosing a pet, Rainbow Dash wanted an animal that would not cramp her style, and what better way to discover a new pet than to hold a competition between them! Categories included Speed, agility, bravado, coolness, awesomeness, and radicalness (all with very distinct different meanings). Whenever Rarity, a friend, makes outfits for her, Rainbow Dash demands that it must be just as cool as she is.
Rainbow Dash has short patience and easily gets bored. She can be a bit harsh in her words, even towards her friends, like calling them eggheads or their efforts pathetic. Fluttershy, a long term friend, often bears the brunt of Rainbow’s ridicule, usually in regard to her meek and mild manners.
This is not to say she is a serious character. Far from it! While she may take her training to hear, Rainbow Dash enjoys sarcasm and having fun--especially playing pranks. In Season one, episode five, the storyline was dedicated to show how much Rainbow Dash enjoys harmless pranks such as using invisible ink and sneezing powder.
Rainbow Dash displays a great deal of loyalty. She was tempted to joint the Shadow Bolts (similar to the Wonderbolts, an acrobatic flying team, which she dreams of becoming the captain), but she would have to abandon her friends to do so. Rainbow Dash refused. Another example is when Fluttershy had a difficult time keeping up with creating a hurricane. Although Fluttershy was the slowest flyer, Rainbow Dash still offered her full support. When picking a pet, Rainbow Dash ended up choosing the pet which stuck with her through hard times, rather than the one who looked the most awesome. A true instance of her loyalty is shown when she gets to join The Wonderbolts training boot camp, yet ultimately ends up quitting her dream because the tricks they were performing put her close friends at risk.
Overall, Rainbow Dash is a fun loving athlete, who seeks adventure wherever it may be, and always remains true to her friends.

Abilities: Dash’s main skills and abilities are in her aerial acrobatics. With a serious need for speed and style, some may say that she is the best flyer in all of Ponyville. However, she is known for one move in particular—the Sonic Rainboom. This maneuver was once thought of as a mere myth as it requires the flyer to break the light barrier. The result of such a move is massive beautiful circular rainbow. Rainbow Dash is the only known pony who has been able to perform the Sonic Rainboom; even multiple times!
In addition to her special skill, she also possesses the ability to manipulate the weather. This includes moving clouds, making it rain, stirring up a tornado, etc.

Alright, listen up! I, Rainbow Dash, am looking for a partner. Now any partner just don’t do. You gotta be able to keep up with the fastest flyer around! And you have to do with style! I can’t be seen with just any meister, ya know? They have to be just as cool as me! But uh, not cooler. Ha, is that even possible?
So who out there BRAVE and AWESOME enough to join Team Dash?

Rainbow Dash blinked a few times. One. Two. Three. She rubbed her head as the room came into focus. “Whoa!” Blue feathered wings whipped into action, taking her to the air. “Where am I?”
Swoosh! With great speed the Pegasus pony flew around the room in a massive circle. Where was the way out? “Twilight, did you mess up another magic spell again?” Or worse, was this Discords doing? It was the only logical explanation for a creature born and raised in Equestria--especially when the television beeped on--which she watched skeptically.
“Let me get this straight. You transported me to another world to fight some witches?” Her face was stern then burst into one of excitement. “Awesome!” Rainbow Dash zipped around the room. “Let me at’em! I’ll show those witches what a real Pegasus pony can do!”
